Practice Observation

Working at a liquor store can really give you a lot to take in, in such little time. A lot of people come into the store in one of two moods. Either they are very happy and in an upbeat mood because its the weekend and they can have a little freedom or already caught a buzz and looking to extend it deep into the night. If it isn't that then its the polar opposite of miserable, grumpy, ignorant human beings who want nothing to do with you and just want there boozes and get on with the miserable lives. Another thing I notice about being a cashier of a liquor store is people think that your a therapist. you ask them how there day was and they go off about what happened with there day and how they hate there wives and there kids make them miserable etc. People think that just because your selling alcohol it comes with all the free advice in the world but I don't see it that way. looking around the store the biggest thing that sticks out to me is the large line of fridges running down the whole left side of the store for sole purpose of keeping appropriate products at the proper temperature. The cash register is to help the employees keep track of what people own and what there change is as well as serving the purpose of keeping tract of all sales and total gross for the owners. Looking up in the store you'll see about 6 cameras all pointed at the counter recording every employees as well as customers moves at the check out counter. In some instances you do the wrong thing with no one around and then you'll pay for it the next time the boss man watches the tapes. The big blue and black gold mine located at the middle of the check out counter serves as the publics connection to the lottery. A lot of money goes in and not nearly as much comes up but as you'll see for the years to come it will stay the same for that lottery machine as well for all the aspects of the liquor store.
