John Stewart Reading
After reading the John Stewart commencement address theirs one thing that really sticks out to me. In his speech John states college is something you complete and life is something you experience. I couldn't agree more. When facing the decision on which college I was going to attend it seems like a lot more people were more concerned with were I was going then myself. You always had those people who loved to brag about how they were going to a Division 1 school that they think you have no chance at and love to just act supportive of your choice when truly they just want to tell you there better than you, but they aren't. At the end of the day college comes down to what you wish to accomplish and how hard you push yourselves to achieve these goals. A degree is a degree and it doesn't matter what type of school it is people have just as good of a chance at any job than someone who went to a Division 1 school. I know multiple people who have degrees from schools that cost them about a quarter of a million dollars by the time that they were finished. What are they doing now? Still working there jobs that they had in high school making 12 dollars an hour having there parents pay off there loans because they can barely afford gas in their car. People like myself will complete a degree at a state school only at a fraction of the cost. After 4 years its just the name on the top of the diploma but yet there all mad out of paper and mean the same thing. As John said College is just something you complete, Life is something you experience.
